Studio Firing Service – Kihikihi

We offer a full ceramic firing service from our studio in Kihikihi, whether you need a one-off firing for a clay event or wish to fire with us regularly.

Firing Options

• Bisque Firing – 950°C
• Glaze Firing (Cone 6) – 1220°C
• Glaze Firing (Cone 10) – 1300°C
• Clear Glaze Application

Drop-off and pick-up location: 32 Rolleston Street, Kihikihi.

How It Works

Purchase the firing service

• Select the relevant firing option and complete checkout.

Prepare your pieces

• Pack your items securely in a sturdy box with bubble wrap or fabric to prevent breakage.
• Attach a completed firing form to the box. (Forms are available at the drop-off location.)

Drop off your items

• Leave your box on the bench on the deck at 32 Rolleston Street.
• Drive up the driveway, park by the steps, and place your box next to the firing forms.
• Our friendly dog may bark at you but is harmless and cannot get out.Firing & Collection
• We will fire your pieces and notify you via email or text when they are ready for pickup.

Terms & Conditions

• Turnaround time: 3 weeks per firing.
• Packing requirements:
  • Items must be packed in sturdy, closed boxes with proper cushioning.
  • Damage in transit is the customer’s responsibility, and we do not provide refunds for transit damage.
• Mark your pieces: Ensure each piece is marked with a recognizable identifier to avoid mix-ups.
• Glaze fees: A $40 fee applies if customer-applied glaze runs onto kiln shelves.
• Clay & glaze requirements:
  • We can fire clay and glazes not purchased from our website, but you must know the brand and firing temperature. 
  • Unknown clay or glaze will not be fired to prevent kiln damage. Repairs range from $40 to $400, and any damage caused will be charged to the piece holder upon collection.
• Firing risks:
  • While we take the utmost care, ceramics are fragile, and occasional losses may occur due to transport, loading, or kiln-related issues.
