Two-Day Nerikomi Workshop

28th and 29th March 2026

10:00 AM – 4:00 PM

This is an opportunity to dive into the advanced techniques of Nerikomi with me in my studio. This workshop has only 4 spaces and you will be encouraged to bring your own unique style to the nerikomi technique. 

Over two days, you’ll learn how to stain clay, layer it to create intricate patterns, and build functional tableware. You will learn about paper clay and its unique properties and walk away from the weekend with new skills, functional nerikomi items and a new tool (coloured clay) in you pottery tool box. 

Details:

  • All materials are included, along with lunch each day and firing if required.
  • We will be working in a cone 6 clay body.
  • Please bring your favourite pottery tools and a dust mask.
  • Prior experience working with clay is required. Experience may be in any clay discipline, but a basic understanding of fundamental techniques and processes is required.
  • Bookings are listed under one day, but this covers both days of the workshop.

Brilliant way to spend a weekend when you’ve played with clay for a while and want to try something else. It was my second time on this course as I enjoyed it so much the first time. It did not disappoint. Quite simply, it’s fun to hang out with Alex while colouring clay. She is generous with her knowledge and welcoming in her studio space.

Totally value for money, not only in terms of our finished pieces, but also in being able to pick Alex’s expert brain about all things Nerikomi. Each participant had her own design concepts and Alex spent time with us individually to bring them to life. These ideas provided many teachable moments for Alex to explain finer techniques to the group. I certainly had an enriching time.

Yesterday I joined a 2-day Nerikomi workshop — it was such a wonderful experience!

A big thank you to Alex for the patience and guidance in teaching us how to work with coloured clay, paper clay, and slab building. I was able to complete my own project just the way I imagined, which made it even more special.

Truly a great and enjoyable experience — highly recommended, especially for those who are looking for quality and a more refined learning experience!

This was a way of using clay I hadn't tried and wasn't sure it was me so enrolled with some trepidation. However I am delighted I did. Alex was informative, experienced and knowledgeable. She had a natural aptitude towards teaching and ensuring each one of us got the best out of the two days. She was very generous with her time, refreshments and free range of her awesome studio and equipment. I came away with lots of new ideas buzzing Iaway in my head and can already envisage how these newly acquired skills and experience will enhance my current art work. Thanks Alex and lovely fellow students.

An amazing two day workshop! I learnt so much in the weekend -Alex has an extensive knowledge and is generous in sharing it. Everything was provided and the tools and equipment were all ready and prepared in advance. Fantastic notes. One of the best pottery workshops I've been to. I look forward to implementing the knowledge I gained.
