Kiln Firing with Mystery Creek Ceramics

We offer a full firing service out of our store at MADE Hamilton East. Whether you have a one-off clay event, would like to regularly fire with us or need to hire an entire kiln we can help.

One off firing 

If you’re looking to host an amazing clay event such as a birthday party, or wine and clay with your friends, Mystery Creek Ceramics can offer you the full service from supplying you with what you’ll need to create, to firing and glazing your pieces. 

Pop into the store and we’ll help get you sorted with the necessary clay supplies. 

 

Firing Pieces 

We can fire pieces that you create at home. We can bisque and glaze fire or do one or the other. We can apply clear glaze if you need or return the items to you between firings so you can glaze using your own glazes.

Kiln Hire 

If you have a heap of items to fire and need the entire kiln this service is for you. We have two kiln sizes that you can choose from. For this service pick up and drop off is at our studio in Kihikihi. Email Alex at alex@mysterycreekceramics.co.nz to book a kiln in.

Terms and Conditions

  • There is a 3 week turn-around for this service for each firing. 
  • Creations must be dropped to the Mystery Creek Ceramics Shop during opening hours. 
  • Creations need to be packed in sturdy boxes that are either closed or have lids with sufficient packaging around the creations. Care will be taken with the boxes but all damage in transit is the responsibility of the customer and no refunds will be provided for transit damage. 
  • Creations must be marked with a recognizable mark so orders arn't mixed up. 
  • There is a $40 fee if any glaze (when applied by customer) runs onto the kiln shelves.
  • We can fire clay and glazes not purchased in store but it is absolutely essential that you can identify the clay or glaze brand, type and firing temperature. 
  • We cannot fire unknown clay or glaze as this could damage our kiln and kiln repairs can vary from $40 to $400. Any damage caused to the kiln is the responsibility of the piece holder and you will be charged upon collection of pieces. 
  • Firing is not always perfect and items can be damaged in transport, loading, due to other pieces in the kiln and kin breakages. While we try to avoid this please understand this is sometimes out of our control
